How many times have you heard that being drunk and seeing things are connected? That drunkness can explain hallucinations? You saw little green men? Were you drinking?

I dare say most people reading this have been drunk at least once in their lives. Certainly most have seen other people drunk. Certainly many reading this have been drunk both alone and in a group. I presume those who have have done the above several more times than once.

Now compare what you know with your experience. Has anyone reading this experienced hallunications or observed hallunications in others as a result of alcohol intoxication?

Of course the answer is no. There is only one association of hallucinations with alcohol and that is with withdrawal symptoms, the lack of alcohol. As anyone with experience in real hallucinagenics such as LSD will tell you, alcohol can ruin a good high, that it works against hallucinations.

So tell me, how can almost everyone accept a cultural "truth" connecting alcohol and seeing things when every bit of experience is contrary to seeing things while intoxicated?

If a person seeing little green men admits to drinking what we know for a fact is that we can discount the possibility of hallucinations rather than assume it.
